# University of New Mexico: Identification for communication systems

Establishes one institution’s stated intent to create a Class 3 system of administration per ANSI/TIA/EIA 606, its from/to label format, its rule that patch-panel ports carry the served room, outlet and jack position, and a two-line layout forced by the space allocated on the panel. These are that campus’s adopted conventions, not a universal scheme and not standards text. Re-read on September 16, 2026 for its cable clauses: horizontal copper labeled at the telecommunications room end with the room, outlet and jack position of the other end within 6 inches of the termination, and at the outlet end 4 inches from termination with the room, rack, panel and port; coaxial drops within 12 inches at the splitter or tap and 4 inches at the outlet; riser copper and fiber labeled from and to on both ends.
