How these numbers are produced
Circumference is pi times the outside diameter you enter. Wrap coverage divides the length around the cable by that circumference. Clear tail length is total length minus printed length. The tool flags a tail shorter than one turn for review; the selected product’s instructions determine its required coverage and overlap.
The character height is arithmetic, not a standard: it divides the reading distance by the ratio you select. The ratios offered are editorial starting points for different reading situations. Character width is estimated at roughly 0.62 of the height, which suits the condensed faces commonly used on cable labels and will differ for your own typeface.
Text fit compares both usable dimensions after printer margins. A line running around the cable uses the printed wrap length for its width and axial height for its stack of lines. Rotating the text swaps those assignments. A missing axial height leaves the check incomplete.
The optional sleeve comparison divides supplied inside diameter by the nominal shrink ratio. It does not predict final printed dimensions or suitability. Check the selected product’s cable range, connector clearance, installation sequence and recovery limits. Wrap calculations do not establish sleeve print fit.
Treat every number here as a starting point for a printed proof. Print one label, apply it to the real cable in the real position, and read it at the real distance and lighting before ordering a batch. The proof is the acceptance evidence; this calculator is not.
